Will the Minister of
COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:
(a)
whether Government has any proposal
for opening of new post offices and modernization of the existing post offices
in various States/UTs, including Haryana;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UTwise
including Haryana; and
(c)
the time by which these post
offices are likely to be opened in the country?

(a) Yes, Sir. There are
proposals for opening of 93 new Branch Post Offices (BOs) and 90 new Sub-Post
Offices (SOs) in the country including Haryana during current financial year
2016-17. 131 post offices have been selected for modernization under ‘Look
& Feel’ activity during the current financial year 2016-17.
(b) The Postal Circle-wise
number of BOs & SOs proposed to be opened and post offices selected for
modernization under ‘Look & Feel’ activity during 2016-17 are given at Annexure.
(c) The proposed post offices
are likely to be opened in the country by 31st March, 2017.
