Here is good news for
corporate customers looking for logistics solutions.
The Department of
Posts has launched the office of Logistics Post in the city at Daba Gardens for
providing cost- effective and efficient distribution of various goods from one
destination to another.
Test market of the
service was launched here on Monday by Chief Postmaster General (Andhra
Pradesh) B.V. Sudhakar in the presence of Postmaster General (Visakhapatnam)
Sharda Sampath and PMG (Vijayawada) M. Sampath.
“We have linked the
city to Vijayawada. Already we have connectivity between Hyderabad and Chennai
and Hyderabad and Bangalore. If required we will arrange door pickup,” Mr.
Sudhakar told reporters later.
Logistics Post, an
innovative service, would take care of entire distribution side of the
logistics infrastructure from collection to distribution, storage to carriage,
order preparation to order fulfillment at the lowest possible price.
Consignments can be sent either in full truck load or less, one or
multi-parcels based on the need.
Mr. Sudhakar said they
would use a special network for carrying and delivering packages and
consignments across the State.
He said the tariff
would be charged depending on weight, volume and distance. The weight slab is
50 kg.
The Department of
Posts would send consignments by road, rail and air. India Post has a fleet
of exclusive aircraft to carry Logistics Post air consignments in addition to a
fleet of vehicles for transport by road.

Mr. Sudhakar said they
were also providing warehousing option for storage of goods on extra payment.
He said they would also provide ‘pick and pack’ facilities based on specific
requirements. He said those needing return services would find Logistics Post
the ideal solution by signing a business agreement for ‘reverse logistics.’
